INTRODUCTION: We report a case of hereditary optic atrophy in female patient with diagnosis of autosomal dominant optic atrophy (ADOA), confirmed by molecular analysis.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 54-year-old, caucasian woman come to our attention with uncertain diagnosis of Leber hereditary optic neuropathy.
CONCLUSION: Molecular analysis allows diagnostic confirmation and can be used to support clinical diagnosis.

The purpose- The aim of this study is to examine the incidence of ROP and its features with the influence of birth weight and gestational age in a sample of premature infants. The law n ° 138/2001, in addition to the distinction among blindness, partial blindness and visual impairment, prescribed that the visual field assessment should be used as one of the tests required for the assessment of pensions benefits claims related to blindness. In particular the law prescribes that the visual field test should be conducted according to the Zingirian-Gandolfo methodology. Over the years, some practical issues in applying this method have become apparent.

Rod photoreceptor function is reduced in many retinal diseases, such as retinitis pigmentosa, [1-3] congenital stationary night blindness, [4] rod-cone dystrophy [5] and macular telangiectasia [6]. Recent evidence based on histological studies shows that rods may be affected prior to cone photoreceptors in the early stages of age-related macular disease (AMD) [7]. Psychophysical data also show a selective impairment of parafoveal rod photoreceptors in AMD [8], which might explain why people with AMD report difficulty particularly under dark-adapted conditions [9,10].

Visual rehabilitation is a therapeutic approach that has been applied to different ocular diseases characterized by visual deterioration and loss of visual acuity. Nowadays the Effects of neural photostimulation during visual rehabilitation are well know. Neuroelectrical information can by–pass disfunctional retinal cells reaching indirectly visual cortex. Visual training, through reiterated stymuli, activates existing synapses, increases the identification of these stimuly allows the formation of new synapsis.1 The neural photostimulation contributes to the creation of neurovisual nets, causing an amplification of visual perception when compared with visual perception obtained with previous retinal conditions.1 The principle is to electrically stimulate neurons along the visual pathway. Ocular approaches target the remaining retinal cells whereas brain stimulation aims at stimulating higher visual structures directly.2

Abstract - In this research the authors intend to verify possible alterations of the intraocular pressure (IOP) in subjects long term exposed to atmospheric ultrafine particles pollution. purpose of the research is to identify if the ultrafine particles air pollution, in addition to the already known airway disease, is able to impact on the mechanisms of IOP regulation of IOP, altering the delicate balance of the functions and structures nutritive, refractive and circulatory human eye.
